Here&#8217;s what came out of the September 15, 2026 call.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Meeting Snapshot<\/h2>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Meeting:<\/strong> MAW Mastery Meeting<\/li>\n<li><strong>Date:<\/strong> Tuesday, September 15, 2026<\/li>\n<li><strong>Format:<\/strong> Live Zoom coaching call &#8212; individual member coaching sessions followed by the full group mastermind, recorded across approximately 2 hours 40 minutes<\/li>\n<li><strong>Coaches on the call:<\/strong> Stephen Oliver, Dr. Greg Moody, and Jeff Smith<\/li>\n<li><strong>Topic:<\/strong> Renewal pricing and the leadership\/black belt tuition formula, retention culture, and school-partnership growth<\/li>\n<li><strong>Members quoted in this entry:<\/strong> Jason Purcell; Sensei Riley Fyfe; Delfino Candia, America&#8217;s Best Karate &#8211; El Paso; a Fort Lauderdale Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school owner (introduced on the call as &#8220;Bruce&#8221;)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Headline Result: A Forced Move, a $32,000-a-Month Hole, and $1.4 Million Last Year<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stephen Oliver asked members to call out their annual gross, one at a time. When it was Jason Purcell&#8217;s turn, he didn&#8217;t hedge:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>&#8220;1.4. Oh, last month we were at, like, 111. We were down. But for last year, we did 1.4 million.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><cite>&#8212; Jason Purcell<\/cite><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What made the number land in the room was what he said next &#8212; where that school actually started:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>&#8220;I was making between $48,000 a month. I moved my school, and now I had to make $16,000 a month. I was forced to move. And I was like, how the hell am I going to do this? And that&#8217;s right when I started talking to Master Oliver. At that time, I&#8217;d gone from $70 a month, and I bumped our school up to $85 a month. And I was freaking out at how the hell I was going to do that. And now our basic program starts at $400 a month, and we go up from there.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><cite>&#8212; Jason Purcell<\/cite><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He closed the point with the mindset he says actually got him through it, comparing it to training:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>&#8220;If you put in the time, you put in the effort, and sometimes you&#8217;re like, okay, well, why didn&#8217;t it work? Well, because you were off, right? Why didn&#8217;t my punch work? Well, I didn&#8217;t rotate my hand enough&#8230; It&#8217;s not that the punch doesn&#8217;t work. It&#8217;s that something I&#8217;m doing&#8230; So I just need to show up and ask questions and talk and be humble and learn.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><cite>&#8212; Jason Purcell<\/cite><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Additional Results &amp; Implementation Evidence<\/h2>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sensei Riley Fyfe &#8212; From $7,000&#8211;$8,000 a Month to $60,000 a Month<\/h3>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Asked by a newer member where he started, Sensei Fyfe didn&#8217;t soften the before-and-after:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>&#8220;I started with a small recreational operation operating out of a rec center, and we were generating about seven thousand a month, seven or eight thousand, and around there. This month we&#8217;re going to do sixty. So, it&#8217;s been pretty good, and one of the best pieces of advice that I could give you that I&#8217;ve learned is anything you learn here, implement it right away and don&#8217;t hesitate. Get it done.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><cite>&#8212; Sensei Riley Fyfe<\/cite><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also walked the group through the retention system behind that growth &#8212; a three-step greeting standard and a nightly handwritten postcard habit:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>&#8220;I always tell them, make sure that everyone, every single soul, is greeted within three steps into the door&#8230; the other thing that I do is, we&#8217;ll key in on a couple of the students each night and we&#8217;ll write them a postcard&#8230; I checkmark every student after I&#8217;ve written a postcard to them just to make sure that I didn&#8217;t miss anybody. We kind of treat the place like a five-star hotel.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><cite>&#8212; Sensei Riley Fyfe<\/cite><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The payoff, in his own words, showed up in a parent&#8217;s comments during a renewal meeting:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>&#8220;I had a progress meeting last week with one of my students who&#8217;s in the renewal pipeline&#8230; one of the things that the parents said right away was that they were so impressed that every time they come into the school, they&#8217;re made to feel welcome. They&#8217;re always greeted at the door. There&#8217;s always an instructor there to make sure that they&#8217;re getting help with their attendance card.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><cite>&#8212; Sensei Riley Fyfe<\/cite><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Fort Lauderdale BJJ School &#8212; Leadership Conversion Climbed From 50-50 to 70-30<\/h3>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Called on to describe a new instructor and leadership program, the owner reported a real shift in how black belts renew:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve instituted some new things with our leadership and instructor program. And we&#8217;ve had a lot more black belts asking about coming up to leadership because they want to get into the instructor program&#8230; I would say at first 50-50&#8230; and then it creeps up from there. Maybe two, four, or six months later, we&#8217;ll get a lot more of those black belts into leadership.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><cite>&#8212; Fort Lauderdale BJJ school owner<\/cite><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Asked directly where that ratio stands now, the answer was immediate: &#8220;It&#8217;s about 70-30. Leadership.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Delfino Candia, America&#8217;s Best Karate (El Paso) &#8212; Doubled Revenue, and an Honest Look at What&#8217;s Still Broken<\/h3>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not every result on these calls is a clean win, and this section exists to keep it that way. Delfino Candia reported real growth alongside a real, unresolved problem:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>&#8220;Right now, I&#8217;ve been having a massive problem with attrition. And even with that, I&#8217;m at about 160 right now. I&#8217;m still doing double what I was making before I joined the group&#8230; that&#8217;s at 55 a month. But right now, I do need help with attrition. That&#8217;s my number one priority. I was getting up in the 70s and 80s. This year has been rough for me because I had surgery.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><cite>&#8212; Delfino Candia, America&#8217;s Best Karate<\/cite><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stephen Oliver used Candia&#8217;s numbers a few minutes later to introduce a grading scale for the whole room to measure themselves against: under 2% monthly dropout is an A\/A-plus, 2&#8211;4% is a B to B-minus, and over 4% is a C or D.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Where the Systems Come From<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Coaching on this call didn&#8217;t stay anonymous. When the conversation turned to character-development homework for students, Jeff Smith stopped to credit where the system actually started:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>&#8220;Remember, Master Oliver said this before when we started this stuff originally for adults. And he&#8217;s the one that actually started doing it with kids, the character stuff. And then we found out that it was even more important for the kids because it got the parents engaged.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><cite>&#8212; Jeff Smith<\/cite><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stephen Oliver returned the favor when he walked through how to judge whether a student is ready for a renewal conversation, naming both coaches&#8217; own shorthand for the same idea:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>&#8220;Master Moody&#8217;s term, baking&#8230; Master Smith&#8217;s term, the thumping the melon analogy &#8212; that&#8217;s when you figure out they&#8217;re ripe.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><cite>&#8212; Stephen Oliver<\/cite><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Renewal Pricing Formula From This Call<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The back half of the session was built around one diagnostic: most schools underprice their leadership tier. Stephen Oliver laid out the actual formula live:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>&#8220;Whatever you&#8217;re charging for a trial enrollment&#8230; say 397&#8230; the formula is the leadership program should be double or more&#8230; 397, 797, or 847. And then a 50% bump or less for black belt&#8230; the mistake number one is only having one level of renewal.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><cite>&#8212; Stephen Oliver<\/cite><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also shared a member story to make the stakes concrete &#8212; a renewal push that added five figures in a matter of weeks:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>&#8220;Lloyd heard that in a seminar, went out and renewed 40 people at $1,000 a month&#8230; in about three weeks&#8230; He added $40,000 to his revenue like overnight, from hearing that idea.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><cite>&#8212; Stephen Oliver<\/cite><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why We&#8217;re Building This Section<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We could take Jason&#8217;s number and dress it up &#8212; put it on a graphic, call it a testimonial, leave out the part where he was down to $16,000 a month and scared.
