The owner on the call went straight back to his notebook from the live meetings and started on the priorities he’d been letting slide: more marketing activities and a cleaner process for renewing students to Black Belt and beyond. That’s the right use of the time. Pick the two or three projects that would change your numbers most this quarter and give them the first hours of every weekday.<\/p>\n

It’s also time for something owners rarely do: set goals for themselves. As he put it, “We spend so much time telling our students to focus on goals, and then we often find ourselves not doing that ourselves, because we’re so focused on others.” If you don’t set aside time to think about where the school is going, nobody else will.<\/p>\n
