In the martial arts school business, it seems like everyone has popped up to sell you advice. How do you tell fact from fantasy? Value from fraud? Before you take a single word of mine to heart, it’s fair to ask the obvious question: who is Stephen Oliver<\/strong>, and why should you listen to him?<\/p>\n

Forty Years in the Trenches — Not in “Memory”<\/h2>\n

A lot of people offering advice in this industry are working from a school they ran in their memory — in some cases, distant memory. I’m different. I opened my first school in 1975, and I’ve been continuously operating my Mile High Karate schools in Denver since 1983, with successful locations across North America, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and beyond.<\/p>\n

I’m still totally immersed in the daily operations of martial arts schools — nose-to-nose, belly-to-belly. I’ve personally run hundreds of enrollment conferences, and for years I met with and trained our school managers and instructors every single week, solving the same real-world problems you face (just at a higher volume). When I tell you something works, it’s because it’s been proven in the field, not dreamed up on a whiteboard.<\/p>\n

From the Jhoon Rhee Institute to a Million-Dollar School<\/h2>\n

I began studying martial arts in 1969, training in Tae Kwon Do at the legendary Jhoon Rhee Institute alongside World Champions like Jeff Smith, John Chung, and Charlie Lee — arguably the most awesome stable of fighters ever assembled. I came up the ranks the hard way and today I’m a 10th Degree Black Belt.<\/p>\n

On the business side, many Mile High Karate schools have grossed well over $500,000 a year, some far more. I broke the $1,000,000-a-year barrier back in 1985 and have continued to operate a hugely successful organization ever since — while earning a healthy six-figure-plus personal income year after year, through boom years and recessions alike.<\/p>\n

Why They Call Me “The Millionaire Maker”<\/h2>\n

The nickname didn’t come from my own schools — it came from what happens to the owners I work with. School owners I’ve personally coached have added $150,000, $250,000, $300,000 and more to their school’s earnings in a single year, often with no increase in overhead.
