The goal isn&#8217;t complexity \u2014 it&#8217;s being able to answer &#8220;which category grew or shrank this month, and why&#8221; without digging through a stack of transactions.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The One Habit That Matters More Than Software<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whatever system you use, reconcile it monthly \u2014 confirm every transaction in your bank and merchant accounts actually lands in the right category, on a fixed schedule, not &#8220;whenever there&#8217;s time.&#8221; Owners who let categorization slide for a quarter usually end up with numbers they don&#8217;t trust, which is often the real reason they stop looking at financials at all.
