The Summer Marketing Calendar for Martial Arts Schools: April Through September, Month by Month
Summer growth doesn’t happen by accident — it happens on a calendar. The schools that add 50 to 100 students between April and September are running a deliberate, month-by-month campaign while everyone else “waits for fall.” Here’s the framework, month by month.
April & May: Plant before the bell rings
The biggest summer mistake is starting in June. Your highest-leverage window is before schools let out. Book PE Teacher for the Day events, drop off enrichment flyers, and run back-to-school-night style booths in April and May while you still have access to hundreds of kids in one room. Launch your summer specials in late May so momentum is already rolling when school ends.
June: Open the floodgates
June is community-event season. Festivals, fairs, farmers markets, and parades are everywhere — each one is a booth, a lead list, and a stack of intro lessons. Kick off your summer camp as a feeder into your regular program, and make sure every camper has a clear path to enrollment.
July: The month everyone else takes off
While competitors coast, you blitz. Layer paid ads, reactivation campaigns, and referral events on top of your camps. Schools that work July hard routinely add 20–30 students in that single month. Boredom is high, parent availability is high, and competition for a kid’s time is low.
August & September: Convert the back-to-school surge
August is when “let me think about it” turns into “let’s sign up.” Run back-to-school orientation booths, convert your summer campers to members, and push your follow-up system hard. Done right, you enter fall at the highest active count your school has ever had — the foundation of a million-dollar school.
